Key Features

  • Sibalance detects sibilance-like vocal energy automatically, so reduction is aimed at sharp consonants instead of flattening the whole top end
  • Delta monitoring lets you hear the removed signal directly, making it easier to stop before the de-esser starts taking body out of the vocal
  • Focus and smoothing controls adapt the de-essing response for darker voices, airy close vocals, fast consonant spikes, or softer exposed performances
  • VocRide tracks the detected vocal fundamental and moves its harmonic EQ bands with the singer instead of leaving static EQ points behind
  • Dedicated controls for the first, second, and third harmonics can add weight, reduce boxiness, or shape presence around the actual sung note
  • A fourth Nth harmonic band follows up to the 14th harmonic or targets a fixed 3-12 kHz range with adjustable Q for more focused vocal tone moves
  • Both plugins include light and dark themes, bypass, GPU rendering enabled by default, and current v1.1.0 Linux release builds

Description

Sibalance + VocRide is a two-plugin vocal processing pair from nClear for controlling sibilance and reshaping vocal tone around the note being sung. Sibalance handles sharp consonants and breathy high-frequency spikes, while VocRide follows the vocal fundamental so harmonic boosts or cuts move with the performance.

Sibalance is the corrective half of the pair. It listens for sibilance-like energy, gives you Delta monitoring to check what is being removed, and uses focus plus smoothing modes to move between tight spike catching and gentler vocal softening.

VocRide is the tonal half, built around pitch-aware harmonic EQ rather than fixed bands. The current v1.1.0 release controls the first, second, and third harmonics, adds an Nth harmonic band with adjustable Q, and shows input/output analysis so you can see how the processor is tracking.

The practical appeal is that both tools solve narrow vocal problems without asking for a full vocal suite. BPB's launch coverage also confirms the important availability point: these are pay-what-you-want full versions through Ko-fi, with a zero-price option and no time-limited trial framing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Sibalance and VocRide one plugin or two separate plugins?

They are two separate nClear plugins released as a related vocal-processing pair. Sibalance is the de-esser and sibilance shaper, while VocRide is the pitch-aware harmonic EQ.

What makes VocRide different from a normal vocal EQ?

A normal EQ stays at fixed frequencies unless you automate it. VocRide tracks the detected vocal fundamental, then moves harmonic controls with the sung note so tonal changes stay attached to the performance.

What is Delta monitoring useful for in Sibalance?

Delta monitoring lets you listen to what the processor is removing. That makes it easier to confirm you are mostly catching sibilance and breath noise instead of thinning out the voiced part of the vocal.

Why does SSA keep the download external for this product?

nClear distributes both plugins through Ko-fi as pay-what-you-want digital items, and the official product pages hand users to those Ko-fi item pages. Because the download requires an external checkout-style flow rather than a stable public archive URL, SSA should link to the specific nClear product pages.
