Description
Marimbox is Hivetune’s sampled virtual marimba, designed to bring the rounded sound of wooden percussion into a DAW or standalone setup. Its stereo recordings and dedicated playback engine give composers a playable melodic instrument for adding organic mallet parts.
The free edition includes four playing styles: Cord, Deadstroke, Rubber and Yarn. MIDI keyswitches below the playable range let you change articulations while performing, or you can select them directly in the interface.
A built-in reverb places the instrument in spaces from small rooms to large halls, and a tempo-synced delay adds rhythmic repeats. Attack and release controls shape the envelope, while adjustable polyphony supports up to 64 voices.
The separate paid Complete edition adds a fifth Roll articulation with looped sustain; it is not included in the free edition. The four included styles still provide contrasting attacks for melodies, rhythmic patterns and layered arrangements.
Hivetune lists VST3 and standalone formats for Windows, plus VST3, AU and standalone for macOS. Its product page offers the free edition through checkout and states that users will be subscribed to the developer’s newsletter.
