EYEPIECE
Key Features
- Reads saved DAW project files into a text snapshot for manual use with an external AI assistant.
- Lists project findings with numerical evidence and rule IDs, alongside explicit coverage limits.
- Reads Ableton Live tracks, clips, notes, devices, plug-in information and mixer settings, with narrower Logic, GarageBand and FL Studio coverage.
- Adds VST3/AU plug-ins on macOS and a Windows VST3 plug-in in version 0.2; the standalone app remains Mac-only.
- Identifies the saved project containing its plug-in mark rather than displaying an unrelated recently saved session.
- Displays optional TELESCOPE 0.3 measurements shared locally, including arrangement stretches and eight-bar blocks.
- Runs without built-in AI, network requests or telemetry; the developer states bit-exact audio pass-through with zero latency.
Description
EYEPIECE is a free DAW project reader from OVNI Audio that turns a saved session into a text snapshot you can paste into your existing AI assistant. It reports project facts and numbered findings, with a coverage section explaining what it could not read or verify.
Version 0.2 adds VST3 and AU plug-ins on macOS and VST3 on Windows alongside the Mac app. The plug-in reads the saved project containing its identifying mark, while passing audio through unchanged with zero latency, according to the developer.
Ableton Live reading includes tracks, clips, notes, devices, third-party plug-ins and mixer settings. Logic and GarageBand expose first-level metadata and audio-file information, while FL Studio exposes tempo, channels, patterns and plug-in names rather than notes, playlist details or mixer controls.
With TELESCOPE 0.3 or newer in the same DAW session, EYEPIECE can show locally shared loudness, true peak, stereo correlation and other measured numbers, including eight-bar blocks. TELESCOPE performs those measurements; EYEPIECE itself does not listen to or process the audio.
The app and plug-in work locally without internal AI, network requests or telemetry. You preview and manually copy the snapshot, and information pasted into an external AI then follows that service's privacy rules.
The Mac build requires macOS 11 or later and supports Apple Silicon and Intel; Windows 10 or 11 receives an unsigned 64-bit VST3 plug-in only. Real DAW testing is currently limited to Ableton Live 12.2.5 on macOS, with Windows and other hosts not yet verified in actual sessions.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does EYEPIECE include AI or send my project to an AI service?
No. OVNI Audio says the app and plug-in make no network requests and contain no AI. You review and manually copy the text snapshot; anything you paste into an external AI follows that service's privacy rules.
Which platforms and DAWs have been tested?
The Mac package supplies a universal app plus VST3 and AU for macOS 11 or later. Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, receives only an unsigned VST3 plug-in. The developer has tested the plug-in in a real session only in Ableton Live 12.2.5 on macOS; Windows and other hosts have not yet been tested in an actual DAW session.
How much can it read from Logic, GarageBand and FL Studio?
Logic and GarageBand reading is limited to first-level information such as tempo, time signature, key, track count and audio files, rather than detailed tracks, plug-ins, notes or mixer data. FL Studio reading includes version, tempo, Channel Rack channels, patterns and plug-in names, but not notes, the playlist, mixer settings or parameter values.
Does EYEPIECE process audio or modify my project file?
The developer describes audio as passing through unchanged, bit for bit, with zero latency. The project reader does not rewrite project files; the DAW normally saves the plug-in’s identifying state with the session, and the plug-in uses local cache files.
What does the TELESCOPE integration add?
With TELESCOPE 0.3 or newer in the same session, EYEPIECE displays locally shared measurements such as loudness, true peak, LRA and stereo correlation, including eight-bar blocks. TELESCOPE measures the audio; EYEPIECE itself does not listen. TELESCOPE is a separate free download, and reference-track tonal balance is not shared.
