Description
BUSTERse is a stereo console-style bus compressor by Analog Obsession, designed to control dynamics and bring a mix or group of tracks together. Its familiar compression controls sit alongside additional sidechain filters and transient shaping, giving you more ways to decide what triggers gain reduction.
The compressor offers selectable attack, release and ratio settings, including an automatic release, plus makeup gain and a wet/dry mix. That blend makes parallel compression possible inside the plugin, whether you want subtle control on a mix bus or a more assertive drum-bus treatment.
The sidechain filter section includes a high-pass filter and mid and high-frequency controls. A separate transient section lets you shape the detector's response to attacks, while external sidechain support allows another signal to drive the compressor.
Turbo changes how the compressor responds across the frequency range, and the switchable transformer option changes its character. Click the Analog Obsession label to engage four-times oversampling, and resize the interface using its corner handle.
BUSTERse is available for macOS and Windows in the formats listed below, with separate installers and a Windows ZIP on the developer's product post. Version 7.0 dates from December 2022, so check compatibility with your own host and operating system before relying on it in an important session.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the sidechain filter do?
It changes the signal feeding the compressor detector rather than acting as a conventional output EQ. The high-pass and frequency controls let you adjust which parts of the source influence gain reduction.
Can BUSTERse use an external sidechain?
Yes. Engage EXT and route a sidechain signal from your host; the filter and transient sections can process that incoming detector signal.
How do I enable oversampling?
Click the Analog Obsession label on the interface to engage 4x oversampling. Click it again to switch the option off.
Can I blend compressed and uncompressed audio?
Yes. The compressor section has a dry-to-wet mix control, allowing parallel compression without setting up a separate bus.
