Two Filters
Key Features
- Two independent multimode filters powered by the Surge Team filter library, with model, submodel, cutoff, resonance, frequency, and morph controls
- Five routing topologies cover serial, serial tapped after filter 1, parallel, parallel with filter 1 feedback, and independent parallel feedback paths
- Two tempo-synced step sequencers can draw movement into filter parameters, overall mix, and feedback for rhythmic sweeps and animated textures
- Rate and smoothing controls let sequencer shapes move from stepped gating and percussive clicks to slower sliding pitches and evolving pad motion
- Pre-gain, post-gain, feedback, wet/dry mix, and a switchable noise source add drive, instability, and rawer filtering effects when needed
- Factory patches, public GitHub releases, and third-party demo videos make it easy to audition the plugin before building custom modulation patterns
Description
Two Filters is a dual multimode filter effect from BaconPaul that pairs two Surge-powered filters with two tempo-synced step sequencers. It turns static audio into moving sweeps, rhythmic cuts, comb-filter textures, self-oscillating tones, and animated transition effects without burying the core workflow.
Each filter includes model, submodel, cutoff, resonance, frequency, and morph controls, with selectable serial and parallel routing options. Pre-gain, post-gain, feedback, wet/dry mix, and an optional noise source let the plugin move from subtle tone shaping into rawer sound-design territory.
The two step sequencers are the main creative hook. They reset against the DAW transport, can modulate filter parameters, mix, and feedback, and include rate and smoothing controls for sharp rhythmic movement or slower evolving curves.
Two Filters feels strongest on synths, drums, noise, risers, pads, and experimental effects where motion matters more than surgical precision. Community coverage has highlighted its easy access to complex filter movement, while KVR user feedback points to the appeal of having these filters in a new and accessible package.

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Two Filters different from a basic filter effect?
The plugin combines two filters, multiple serial and parallel routing modes, feedback, noise, gain staging, and two tempo-synced step sequencers. That makes it more useful for animated movement and sound design than for simple one-knob low-pass or high-pass sweeps.
Can the step sequencers modulate both filters?
Yes. The official manual says the step sequencers can modulate features of each filter, the overall mix, and feedback. BPB also notes fixed modulation paths for cutoff, resonance, and morph parameters.
Is Two Filters meant only for experimental sound design?
No. It can do extreme comb, feedback, noise, and self-oscillation effects, but the same routing and modulation tools also work for more traditional filter movement on drums, synths, pads, risers, and transitions.
Which release should users download?
The official GitHub repository now has a v1.0.0 release with separate Windows, macOS, Linux, and source assets. The earlier BPB lead pointed at the nightly build, but the stable release is the better review target.
