Description
THE DREAM is a character effect from Sonic Cascade that brings together tape-style saturation, pitch flutter and digital degradation. It extracts the character section of the developer’s DREAM DECAY plugin into a separate effect for adding movement and grit to clean sounds.
The DREAM control introduces pitch drift, wow, flutter and tape hiss as it is turned up. Rather than exposing a separate control for each artifact, it combines them into a single texture that changes with the knob position.
DRIVE adds tape-style saturation, while DEREZ applies fixed 8-bit crushing and sample-rate reduction. These stages can work together to give a source both harmonic color and a rougher digital edge.
A signal-flow control lets you reorder DREAM, DRIVE and DEREZ in six different combinations. For example, putting DEREZ before DRIVE sends the crushed signal into saturation, whereas placing it last degrades the already saturated sound.
Try the effect on synths, drums or sustained pads when you want a worn, unstable character. THE DREAM is available for macOS and Windows as a 64-bit plugin, with direct downloads on the developer’s page and no email registration or activation required.
