Description
PSP ClassicQlite is a British-style equalizer for shaping individual tracks, with a design inspired by classic console EQs including early Neve units. It combines low and high shelving filters with a sweepable midrange bell, so you can adjust broad tonal balance and focus on a particular area of the mids.
The adjustable high-pass filter covers 20–400 Hz, useful for removing unwanted low-frequency energy before making other EQ moves. Switchable shelf Q settings change the shape of the low and high bands, while the midrange offers selectable Q and Auto Q.
A second-generation SATuration stage follows the output level control and can add analog-style overdrive when driven harder. PSP says the stage also helps protect subsequent software or hardware from digital clipping, with its ceiling set just below 0 dBFS.
The interface includes preset management, A/B comparison and resizing, making it practical to compare settings while working on vocals, drums or instruments. PSP's paid ClassicQ and ClassicQex add further analog-inspired processing, with ClassicQex also providing another low-mid band.
ClassicQlite runs on Windows and macOS in compatible plugin hosts. A PSP user account and iLok user ID are required; the iLok License Manager handles activation and a physical dongle is optional.
