Description
Northern Trumpets is a sampled jazz trumpet library for the full version of Native Instruments Kontakt, voiced around open and Harmon-muted playing. It is designed for moody, breath-led solo lines rather than polished orchestral brass, with the changing character of the attack forming a central part of its sound.
VGTrumpet recorded more than 600 unique 24-bit/48 kHz samples and provides up to seven velocity layers per key. The library includes falls, squeezes, soft and accented attacks, plus half-valve articulations, while vibrato, growl, expression, attack, and noise controls help shape a performance.
Aftertouch, the mod wheel, and keyswitches give MIDI keyboard players practical ways to morph the sound while playing. The developer also configures it for breath and wind controllers, so players using compatible TEControl, MRT Audio, EWI, WX, or Aerophone hardware can make more continuous performance changes.
Northern Trumpets needs the paid, full Kontakt 5.6.8-or-later application; it will not run in the free Kontakt Player. VGTrumpet distributes it as a €0.00 account checkout, with the resulting download link available from the buyer's VGTrumpet account.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does Northern Trumpets work in the free Kontakt Player?
No. VGTrumpet states that the library requires the full retail version of Kontakt 5.6.8 or later, and that the free Kontakt Player is not supported.
What trumpet sounds are included?
The library provides two sample sets: an open trumpet and a Harmon-muted trumpet. It also includes falls, squeezes, soft and accented attacks, and half-valve articulations for phrasing.
Can I use a breath or wind controller with Northern Trumpets?
Yes. The developer lists TEControl, MRT Audio, Yamaha BC3, Robkoo R1, several AKAI EWI and Yamaha WX models, and Roland Aerophone models among the supported controller types.
How do I get the download?
Add the €0.00 product to the cart and complete the VGTrumpet checkout. The developer says the download link is then supplied through the VGTrumpet account created during that process.
