Description

Cinematic Wineglasses is a Kontakt library from West Highland Sound built from struck, rubbed, and bowed wine glasses. Its 52 instruments combine bright, long-decay attacks with blooming sustains and evolving bowed textures for delicate cinematic scoring.

The two acoustic instruments keep the physical character of the recordings at the center. The rubbed instrument spreads separately tuned glasses across the stereo field, while the struck instrument uses six velocity layers and eight round robins to keep repeated notes varied.

Fifty further bowed patches extend the palette into pads, short pads, swells, short swells, undulations, a drone, and other designed textures. Because each bowed patch comes from its own performance, sustained chords can develop with a less looped, more organic sense of motion.

The compact front panel centers on reverb, with deeper controls for shaping the room and tail when a cue needs more space. It requires the full version of Kontakt 6.8 or later; Kontakt Player is not supported.

Frequently Asked Questions

What instruments and playing styles are included?

The library contains 52 instruments: Rubbed Wineglass, Struck Wineglass, and 50 bowed patches. The bowed collection includes pads, short pads, swells, short swells, undulations, a drone, and other designed variations.

How does the struck wineglass avoid repetitive hits?

West Highland Sound records the struck instrument with six velocity layers and eight round robins. That creates 48 possible sample variations per note and changes the attack character as you play harder.

Can I use Cinematic Wineglasses in Kontakt Player?

No. The developer specifies the full retail version of Kontakt 6.8 or later, and explicitly says the library will not work with the free Kontakt Player.

How is the library delivered?

The official product page uses the developer's mailing-list checkout. After joining, the developer sends the download link by email and lists free lifetime updates for the library.
